You don’t use antioxidants yet? They’re key to prevent the skin damage from ultraviolet radiation. A great product to introduce in your morning skincare routines is The Ordinary Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3%, as you’ll see in this review! Let me show you why I love it and how it can help your skin!

Hello! Today I am going to talk about another product from my small stash of The Ordinary: their Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3%. I have been using it for several months, and since you frequently ask me about what antioxidants you can incorporate into your routines, I want to share my experience with this one.

You can get the serum The Ordinary Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% on DECIEM (recommended), on SkinStore and on FeelUnique.

Resveratrol, an ingredient extracted primarily from the skin of grapes, is an ingredient with enormous potential and increasing use in cosmetics. Its properties are very diverse: it is a powerful antioxidant (which prevents the damage that free radicals cause to our skin), it has anti-inflammatory properties (it helps us reduce the damage caused by UVB radiation) and, in addition, it helps to reduce skin spots and improve hyperpigmentation without being irritating.

On the other hand, ferulic acid is another highly effective antioxidant (it not only reduces the activity of free radicals, but also prevents their appearance), it also has anti-inflammatory properties and helps us prevent damage caused by UVA radiation. In addition, ferulic acid helps stabilize vitamin C, so it works wonderfully in conjunction with it.

In this case, The Ordinary have developed a serum that combines the best of both ingredients, creating a perfect cocktail of antioxidants that helps us prevent the damage that ultraviolet radiation causes to our skin (as you know, ultraviolet radiation is the main responsible for skin aging).

I try to use antioxidants in all my morning routines, since they help us, indirectly, to prevent the damage caused by ultraviolet radiation on our skin. The best way to prevent these damages is by using (and reapplying) a good sunscreen on a daily basis (here you can see a comparison with some of my favorites, in case you haven’t found yours yet), but by incorporating these antioxidants into our routine we provide an extra protection to our skin.

If you follow me you will know that my favorite antioxidant is, without a doubt, vitamin C. It is a very effective ingredient and, in addition to protecting us against free radicals, it also helps us reduce hyperpigmentation. And why am I talking about vitamin C now? Because this Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3% from The Ordinary is a great complement to your vitamin C serum. Together, they create a magnificent network of antioxidants that helps us prevent photoaging.

As you can see below, this serum has a very simple composition, with a base of propanediol, in addition to resveratrol and ferulic acid, and it is designed to provide us with what our skin needs and nothing else, without accessories. This serum does not contain perfumes or essential oils among its ingredients.

I imagine that, after reading the wonders of resveratrol and ferulic acid, you will wonder what this serum is like and if it really provides everything it promises. Its texture is slightly oily, leaving a slight patina on the skin that is not heavy at all or bothersome and which you will forget after applying your moisturizer and sunscreen.

In terms of results, antioxidants are perhaps the type of ingredients that I find most difficult to value. Its activity usually occurs in the background, helping to prevent photoaging directly and indirectly, but it is very difficult for me to identify the improvement directly on my skin. Although I cannot say that I have observed any direct change, I do recognize that these types of products provide us with an invisible efficacy and, when combined with my vitamin C serum, I am sure that both products will enhance each other.

Would I buy this product again? Yes, since I use vitamin C daily and applying it lets me know that I am going to get an even more effective result. Taking into account its price and everything it provides, I will continue to use this serum.

As I have mentioned, this serum gives us great effectiveness when combined with vitamin C. I like to use it, in combination with it, in my morning routines, since it is the most useful time of day for provide antioxidants to our skin, but you can also use it in your night routines. Apply after cleansing and toner, then end your routine with a good moisturizer and sunscreen (in case it’s your morning routine).

This graphic aims to help you understand in which part of your skincare routine you should use each product.
You don’t need to do all the steps from this routine (but you should always cleanse, moisturize and use sunscreen).
Remember it’s key to do a patch test every time you consider adding new products to your skincare routine.
