Cabecera The Moisturizer - REVIEW: The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser
Double cleansing has been a life changing discovery for me. The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser may seem like a humble product, but it provides so much at a great value for money. Check my review to see why you should use it, the correct way to do it and what results to expect from it!

Hello! It has been a while since I shared a review of a cleanser with you, and taking advantage of the fact that I have been using this Squalane Cleanser from The Ordinary for a while, I want to tell you a little bit about it and what it can contribute to incorporate it into our skincare routines.

You can get The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser on DECIEM (recommended), on Amazon, and on SkinStore

Those of you who know me better know that I have been double cleansing every night for a long time, without exception. If you don’t know it yet or want to remember how to do it correctly, you can read it in this other article. It is a simple, effective and very skin-friendly way to remove traces of makeup, sunscreen and the rest of the particles that deposit on the skin throughout the day.

In this case, The Ordinary has developed an oil-based cleanser for us to use in the first phase of our double cleansing. With it, we remove those remains of makeup and sunscreen that I mentioned. Soon I will publish a post about double cleansing and why it is more respectful with our skin than make-up removing wipes and micellar water, but I’ll tell you that it is the winning option. Using a good first cleanser, you will achieve a very effective result without unbalancing your skin barrier.

Currently we can find this cleanser in two formats: 50 and 150 ml. I decided on the second one, since it is a more inexpensive option and that way I can get to know the product better and use it for a longer time.

The texture of this product is great, you don’t need to use much and the sensation on the skin is wonderful. At first, when we take the product on the palms of our hands, the texture is dense, lotion-like. However, after rubbing the hands and heating it, it acquires an oil consistency that, on the face, is amazingly pleasant.

The main ingredient in this cleanser is squalane, which not only gently removes the oil-soluble particles on our skin, but is also an important source of fatty acids and antioxidants. This cleanser does not contain perfumes or essential oils among its ingredients.

As an oil-based cleanser it has become one of my favorites. It not only provides a great result, but it is also very gentle with the skin and is very practical for our daily lives. It is very important for me that these products easily remove sunscreen, and in this case it does so almost instantaneously. What I have observed is that when removing makeup it requires rubbing with more energy than I would like (especially if it is water-proof products).

After trying and discovering this product and what it can contribute to my routines, I am convinced that I will buy it again. Its effectiveness, its value for money and how soft it is with your skin are the aspects that I liked the most about this cleanser.

As I explain in my post on how to properly wash your face, this cleanser should be used in your night routines, heating it for a few seconds between the palms of the hands and then spreading it over the face over dry skin. Gently massage it, then remove it with plenty of lukewarm water. Then finish your routine as you already know: second cleanser, toner, serum and moisturizer.

This graphic aims to help you understand in which part of your skincare routine you should use each product.
You don’t need to do all the steps from this routine (but you should always cleanse, moisturize and use sunscreen).
Remember it’s key to do a patch test every time you consider adding new products to your skincare routine.
