Hello! Today I am going to talk about a cleanser that has become truly world famous: Cerave’s Hydrating Cleanser. After reading a lot about it, I was encouraged to try it and finally I am going to tell you about my experience using it. Do you want to know my opinion? Keep reading!

Facial cleansing is one of the most important phases of our skincare routine (and, in fact, it is part of our basic routine). By washing our face properly, we are able to remove all the particles that accumulate on our skin’s surface throughout the day (and night).

You already know that, for me, double cleansing every night is something basic. It is the most effective and respectful way with our skin barrier to remove sunscreen, makeup and all the particles that accumulate on our face throughout the day. Whether you do a double cleanse or if you just use a water-based cleanser (like this one from Cerave), it is essential to use gentle products to avoid unbalancing our skin.

In this case, Cerave has developed a cleanser that, in principle, is intended to be used on normal to dry skin. However, I have combination skin and have seen great results. In the end, the most important thing when creating your skincare routine is to find products that suit your skincare needs, even though at first we may think that they are not the right ones for us.

The composition of this cleanser seems very interesting to me, since it incorporates several very useful ingredients when it comes to maintaining the balance of our skin barrier or for when we are going through a period of irritation or sensitization. Specifically, among the ingredients of this cleanser we can find various types of ceramides and cholesterol (which give us that protective function that I was talking about), hyaluronic acid (which helps us improve skin hydration, as I explain in this guide) and vitamin E (rich in antioxidants). This cleanser does not contain perfumes or essential oils.

In terms of texture, this is a very particular cleanser for two reasons. On the one hand, it is not a foaming cleanser, which in the first uses may give the impression that it is not effective enough or that it does not adequately remove particles from the surface of the skin, but I assure you that it cleans wonderfully. On the other hand, the texture of the product itself is quite striking for a cleanser, as it is more like a moisturizing lotion due to its density and touch. Its color is whitish and it has no characteristic scent. Once we apply the product we can notice how it leaves a very thin film on the face, as if it had not been completely clean, but it is something minimal and to which you will easily get used to (it does not always happen to me, but I think it is important that you know that it can happen to you).

So how effective is this cleanser? Definitely, it’s a wonderful one. Your skin ends up very clean, but on a gentle and correct way. Unlike other more aggressive cleansers, this one does its job properly, respecting the balance of our skin barrier but removing all impurities from the skin’s surface.

For me it has become a basic product. It is inexpensive, provides a good cleaning and is very durable, so it will be a regular part of my beauty routines for a loooong time. Stay tuned, because soon I will share my review of the foaming cleanser of this same brand, so you will know which of the two best suits the needs of your skin.

HOW TO USE:

You can use this cleanser interchangeably in your morning or night routines. If you use it at night, remember that you must first incorporate an oil-based cleanser to properly remove makeup and sunscreen. Apply to a damp face, massaging it gently. Then, remove it with plenty of water and continue with the rest of your skincare routine.

This graphic aims to help you understand in which part of your skincare routine you should use each product.
You don’t need to do all the steps from this routine (but you should always cleanse, moisturize and use sunscreen).
Remember it’s key to do a patch test every time you consider adding new products to your skincare routine.
