Hello! It was about time to finally share with you my review of this La Roche-Posay Retinol B3. Now that I finished it after a few months of use, I can finally tell you my experience and my opinion about it, so read on to find out what I think.

BRAND: LA ROCHE-POSAY
PRODUCT: RETINOL B3
SKIN TYPE: TODAS
RECOMMENDED FOR: UNISEX

You can get the La Roche-Posay Retinol B3 serum on Amazon, on SkinStore and on FeelUnique.

If you have read my guide on retinoids you may have started to feel curious about including this type of ingredients into your skincare routines, and it does not surprise me. Their benefits are multiple, among other advantages they help us to improve the cell turnover process, promote the repair of collagen and elastin fibers and help rebalance the oil levels of the skin.

However, retinoids are very powerful ingredients and must be used correctly, since otherwise we can seriously damage our skin. In the guide on retinol that I mentioned before I have included all my tips to start incorporating retinoids into your skincare routines, I recommend you read it thoroughly before using them.

When I was sent this serum from La Roche-Posay I was excited, since it looked like a perfect way to start incorporating retinoids into my skincare routines, and it is not always easy to find the right product for that, especially considering the side effects associated with retinol (irritation, peeling, dryness, photosensitivity, etc.).

Among the ingredients of this La Roche-Posay serum we find two forms of retinoids: retinol and retinyl palmitate, a very good combination to get started with this type of ingredients and start to get results quickly. In addition, niacinamide helps to enhance the effectiveness of these retinoids and helps us reduce redness and irritation, while hyaluronic acid helps keep our skin hydrated and balanced. If I had to highlight any negative aspect of the composition of this serum it would be the presence of alcohol denat. and perfume, since both ingredients are really accessories and perhaps they could have been dispensed with.

As you can see, the composition of the serum is quite promising, and the types of retinoids that it incorporates are mild enough for this to be the first retinol serum that we incorporate into our skincare routines, since they need two and three transformations to become retinoic acid (which is the form that our skin will effectively absorb).

Its texture is very comfortable, it is liquid and light as well as creamy, so it spreads very easily on the face and you do not need a lot of product to cover the skin properly. It has a soft, slightly yellowish color (which, over time, has darkened a little) and a pleasant smell (although, as you already know, for me the main thing is the results, not the fragrance of a product).

I want to make a brief mention of an aspect that I value a lot, and that is that the team at La Roche-Posay have improved the dropper of this type of product (which, as you will remember from my review of their Pure Vitamin C10 was not exactly comfortable) and now it is perfect, does not drip or is uncomfortable to use.

And now comes the moment of truth: the results. Since I have incorporated this serum into my routines I have observed a clear and perfectly visible improvement. After a few weeks of use I could see how my fine lines were reduced and the texture of my skin was also smoothed, so I am very satisfied with the effectiveness of this product.

This serum has provided me with a great experience using retinoids, but it certainly won’t be the last. Having gone through such a positive experience with this serum is an incentive to continue sharing with you new products of this type, so if you want to continue learning about retinol, stay tuned to my blog.

HOW TO USE:

In my guide on retinol I explain in detail the proper way to use retinoids. Some general considerations to keep in mind are to always use this serum in your night routines, gradually incorporating it into your routines after doing the patch test. Do not combine it with other powerful ingredients such as vitamin C, exfoliating acids, etc. Don’t forget to use sunscreen in all your morning routines.

The Moisturizer - Steps of the skincare routine: Serum

This graphic aims to help you understand in which part of your skincare routine you should use each product.
You don’t need to do all the steps from this routine (but you should always cleanse, moisturize and use sunscreen).
Remember it’s key to do a patch test every time you consider adding new products to your skincare routine.

    Hi,

while looking at the ingridients list, I didn’t notice the pure form or retinol. Only its derivative. Is the pure form under a different name that I might not know??

    If yes, at what concentration?

    thank you in advance.

Hi Elida, welcome to my blog! 😊

On the ingredients list you can see the Retinol right after the Sodium hyaluronate and the Retinyl palmitate around the end of the ingredients list 😉

I have contacted the brand to get an insight on the concentration of the retinoids, but they won’t disclose that because of confidentiality.

      All the best,
      Nacho.
