As I was saying, today I want to tell you about a Dr. Roebuck’s mask, specifically the Daintree one. This mask is designed to improve the luminosity of the skin through the action of various antioxidants and AHAs. If you still don’t know what AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) are, I recommend that you read my complete guide on acids in skincare to find out everything they can do for you. AHAs are acids that allow us to exfoliate the skin more effectively than physical scrubs, thus helping us to remove the layer of dead cells that remains on the skin’s surface, thus improving wrinkles and expression lines, as well like skin spots, and giving us a generally brighter appearance.

Specifically, among the ingredients of this Dr. Roebuck’s mask we find the caviar lime extract, very rich in antioxidants and AHAs, which gives us the main function of this product, as well as the kakadu plum extract, a fruit of Australian origin with a huge concentration of vitamin C. Among the ingredients of this product we do not find perfumes, but potentially irritating ingredients such as citric acid or other citrus extracts are incorporated.

As I mentioned at the beginning of the post, perhaps one of the aspects that I like most about using masks is that they allow us to incorporate powerful assets into our routines (thus providing us with very effective results) in a special way. To me, applying a mask is always very relaxing, for me it is practically a ritual that allows me to disconnect while taking care of my skin.

In this case, the application of the product is excellent. It comes in an opaque tube (which ensures that the photosensitive ingredients do not degrade). The first thing we observe when extracting the product from the packaging is that it has a greenish color and a texture that reminds the one of a mousse. When applying it to the skin, we first notice a very comfortable and pleasant freshness. Later, if you have a particularly sensitive area of skin, you may notice a slight itch (more than bearable). The sensation when removing it is very soft, but if you feel the skin slightly irritated (something common in the first uses, since after all it is a mask rich in acids), I advise you to use a soothing mask like this one by I’m From.

And is it an effective product? Yes, although as it is a mask, if what you are looking for is to improve the skin’s brightness, I advise you to incorporate other products into your routines that help you achieve that result. You already know that in skincare you have to be patient, since the key to achieving the best results is in the constancy, so using this mask once will not bring you miraculous results. However, if you use it frequently to support your beauty routines, the result will be great.

My final assessment of this mask is very positive although, as I have mentioned before, there are certain ingredients in its composition that seem unnecessary to me. In any case, once I finish it (and there isn’t much left for that), I would buy it again.

HOW TO USE:

This mask should be used in your night routines, after washing your face, so that there are no impurities on the skin and you can achieve its greatest potential. I recommend applying it with the help of a small spatula to achieve the best possible result. Once you have spread it well, remember that you must remove it after 15-20 minutes with plenty of water. Then, finish your beauty routine with a toner, serum and moisturizer. Remember to do the patch test before using it to make sure it doesn’t cause unwanted side effects. As always, do not forget to apply sunscreen in your morning routines, if you have not yet found yours here you can see my comparison of sunscreens.

To me, the best way to apply this type of face masks is with a spatula like this one, since that way you’ll avoid directly touching the product with your hands and thus you’ll reduce the risk of contaminating it. Also, you’ll notice how this way it’s way easier to evenly distribute the product all over your skin.
