El ácido azelaico se ha convertido en un activo muy popular en cosmética, ya que sus propiedades antimicrobianas y antiinflamatorias lo hacen muy eficaz ante las rojeces causadas por el acné y la rosácea. No solo es un ingrediente muy versátil, sino que apenas suele causar irritación, por lo que te resultará fácil incorporarlo a tus rutinas de belleza, igual que sucede con otros activos antiinflamatorios como la niacinamida. Al usar protector solar extendemos una capa de filtros solares sobre la superficie de nuestra piel para protegernos frente a la radiación ultravioleta. El paso del tiempo, tocarnos la cara, el sudor… hacen que esos filtros se vayan degradando, por lo que nuestra piel queda más expuesta a los rayos UV. Un gesto tan sencillo como reaplicar tu protector solar 2-3 horas después de la primera aplicación te ayudará a minimizar el envejecimiento prematuro y los potenciales problemas cutáneos que causa la radiación ultravioleta a la piel. 🇬🇧▼ Al cuidar de nuestra piel es habitual que subestimemos la importancia de los básicos. Si eres la mitad de perfeccionista que yo, cuando tienes un problema buscas lo mejor de lo mejor para enfrentarte a él. Con la piel suele pasar lo mismo, queremos encontrar el mejor serum para evitar las manchas, el mejor cosmético para prevenir las arrugas… cuando usar protector solar a diario nos aporta todo eso y más. La mejor inversión que puedes hacer para cuidar tu piel es, sin duda, en un protector solar de SPF50 y amplio espectro. Es el mejor cosmético. Una de las características más importantes de un buen solar (y de la que no hablamos lo suficiente) es que tenga una textura que te resulte cómoda para usarlo a diario. One of the key qualities of a good sunscreen (and we don’t talk enough about it) is having a comfortable texture for daily use. 🇬🇧▼ A veces, cuando sentimos tirantez asumimos directamente que tenemos la piel seca, pero es importante que sepamos diferenciarla de una piel deshidratada para así aportarle exactamente lo que necesita. Una piel deshidratada necesita una mayor cantidad de agua, ya que no es capaz de retener la suficiente como para compensar su pérdida transepidérmica (TEWL), por lo que debes buscar ingredientes humectantes. Por su parte, una piel seca necesita una mayor cantidad de aceite, ya que no produce suficiente sebo y por eso la sentimos tirante. Esto puede deberse a factores genéticos, a cambios ambientales (en invierno es habitual) o al uso de cosméticos (como los retinoides, que tienden a producir una mayor sequedad en la piel). Para recuperar su equilibrio, una hidratación más rica a base de emolientes u oclusivos te vendrá de maravilla. Sea cual sea tu caso, un limpiador suave, la hidratante correcta y un protector solar que disfrutes usando y reaplicando, son imprescindibles. ¿Y tú, cómo tienes la piel en invierno?

_ Sometimes, when our skin feels tight, we directly assume that it’s dry, but it’s important to know how to differentiate it from a dehydrated skin to provide exactly what it needs. Dehydrated skin needs a greater amount of water, as it’s not capable to retain enough of it to balance transepidermal water loss (TEWL), so you must look for humectant ingredients. On the other hand, dry skin needs more oil, as it doesn’t produce enough sebum, thus making it feel tight. This may be caused by genetic factors, environmental changes (it’s common in winter) or the use of cosmetics (such as retinoids, which tend to cause dryness). To get its balance back, moisturizing through emollients and occlusives will work wonders for you. Whatever is your case, a gentle cleanser, the right moisturizer and a sunscreen you enjoy using and reapplying, are key. How’s your skin during winter?
